Ok, I seriously listened to at least ten of the BEST TENORS OF ALL TIME until I found one I truly felt. Seriously. Video does nothing to help you feel this aria. It’s so cold :( You need to feel it in person.
Momma is really angry Pamina, you better go to your room.

So when George Romero was around 14 or so he used to go the the video archives in Brooklyn and rent films. This is pre VHS, so in order to rent a film you would need to rent the projector as well. He used to hold screening nights at his house on weekends.
His favourite film was “The Tales of Hoffman”. He had signed this film out at least 40 times, and he credits it as the film that made him “want to make films”.
So one day he goes in to rent the film and somebody has it signed out. He wonders “Who would rent The Tales of Hoffman?” Romero was the only one renting it for years. He goes in again the next week and the film is still out. A few weeks go by and Romero asks the manager at the video archives who keeps renting “The Tales of Hoffman?”
“That Scorsese kid”, says the manager.

I have this on my wall. Gorg!
